Reina Guevara is originally from El Salvador and arrived in the United States at the age of 11 to reunite with her mother after being separated during the civil war in Central America. After living in the U.S. for several years, she joined the Student Immigrant Movement (SIM), an organization established and led by youth to advocate for equity and empowerment within their communities.
In 2017, Reina assumed the role of Development Director at SIM, where she focused on organizing, recruitment, and fundraising for initiatives designed to foster leadership and create supportive spaces for young people. Her efforts also included securing funding to assist individuals with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) renewal fees.
Reina has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy & Public Policy, with a minor in Philosophy of Law, from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
